lyrics

Beach Drive by John Galla

You read about your life,
from everything that you have learned,
and every sign you see,
is still a mystery.
You know your mind is useful,
its boundless depths you've seen,
still you can't define a purpose for your dreams.

It gets close --
but tomorrow never comes.
It's always one step away,
and all you've got is today.

So just concentrate,
and everything that's hidden will be shown;
the only faith that I have ever known.

Waiting to begin --
another day has fallen underneath the past it seems.
A sea comes tumbling --
whirlwind swirling madness,
an ocean opening itself for me to see,
and so I open me.

I get close,
but in the end I still remain --
a new ghost,
haunting in the same old brain,

Hoping,
tonight I won't have to sleep alone;
the only fate that I have ever known.

Feeling California,
but it's early-in-the-morning-Pennsylvania...
a friendly stranger.
Listening to life again --
no 'beginnings'...
always been...
and in the end?...

...well, I guess I'll find out then.

We get close;
we fall apart and drift away,
but maybe...
if we're lucky...
we might find a way to celebrate --
and realize how much we've grown;
the only faith that I have ever known.
